The 2001 BTC began in Salida drinking Tom's homebrewed beer.

This year we drank "Auto Accident Ale" from the right arm brewing team.
Day #1 we climbed over Monarch Pass.
This is Rebecca heading out of town...
and Howie, Hal, and our beautiful Highway Patrol on Monarch Pass
After dinner at Garlic Mikes and Camping on the practice field at Wasted State, we left Gunnison
on Day #2 for our century ride.
Rebecca haulin' ass along the lake.

and Nick riding on the edge of the Black Canyon.
On the 3rd day we left Delta for a ride over the hill to Palisade.
This is Rebeca with the Grand Mesa in the distance.
Climb, climb, climb, and then climb some more.

This is Aid #3.
Note the storm brewing over the Mesa.
Some riders got caught in the storm with lightning, hail, and of course rain.
No one was injured from the weather.
Cruising on the interstate near Palisade.
Day #4 was a rest and rehydrate day.
The Palisade wineries rolled out the busses and took us for tastings.

Nick
We also had peach ice cream at a fruit stand.
After the pool party in Grand Junction we dined at the Texas Roadhouse.

Day #5 sent us down I-70 to Glenwood
Springs.
This is Larry at Aid #1 covered in
little flies that didn't show up in the picture.
Day #6 took us through Glenwood Canyon, past Vail, and over the pass to Leadville

Aid #2 was filled with people pondering the climbs to Leadville.
Mount Elbert and Mount Massive on the way to Leadville
The camping in Leadville was tight but we managed a place in the suburbs with a great view.
Evening festivities as the sun lights the mountains to the east.
Dave, Tom, Van, Greg, Larry, Tom, Holly, and Ron swillin' in Leadville
This is the view that we woke up to, that's Mount Massive..
Day #7 sent us downhill past the highest peaks in Colorado.

The open road and the blue sky.
Last view of the handlebars for the week.
Two of the wild women that followed the team around,
The finish in Salida was marred by these people consuming alcoholic beverages.
and this guy getting a haircut
And after it was all over, someone was pretty darn tired...
